About The Art
Being a lifelong resident of the Buffalo area, I have developed a profound appreciation of the vast and impressive array of classical architecture this city has to offer. With styles ranging from, but not limited to Romanesque and Art Deco to Victorian and Contemporary, the Buffalo and Western New York area region is rich in its architectural and historic heritage.
While in college I became interested in local history which bolstered my appreciation of classic architecture. I began drawing many buildings and structures and soon realized, much to my delight, how many beautiful buildings and landmarks this city has to offer. After 20 years of drawing them I have only scratched the surface of the subject-matter I have to work with. It is my hope and intention that those who see my work will grow to love and admire these valued structures as I do.
I start a drawing by taking several photographs of a building including close-ups of details, etc. I find the view that I believe is the best and make a detailed, but rough draft.
